  • Well! Now that the holiday’s over ( I know, I know…it’s WEDNESDAY , already!), I can get to the semi – hectic task of preparing for this coming week’s mission trip to the Dominican Republic. To be honest, I suspect that in the back of my mind, I thought that I could “coast” somewhat with this because I know so many Spanish hymns by heart, that there wouldn’t be as much preparation needed to learn things. Surprise! God found a way to stretch me ….someone is putting their own hymns and translations down for us….and I don’t think I know all of them. I’m also fighting an attack of the blues. Now when I say I’m fighting that, that is exactly what I mean. I’m finally learning to take the focus off the blues(and myself), and praise God when those inevitable lulls hit me. Praise music is so wonderful for this, and God, in His inerrant timing, had someone give me a copy of a fantastic praise and worship CD  I’d never heard before, unexpectedly. Ended up praising God with tears running down my face. Praying that the God of Comfort be close to you all today…Jim

  • I read a book called An Arrow Pointed to Heaven It’s a devotional biography on the life of Rich Mullins. When he signed autographs for people he used the words, Be God’s. Such a simple and beautiful phrase. I liked it so much I’ve been using it ever since at the end of letters and xanga comments. I don’t think it’s copyrighted, so it should be safe to use as much as you like.

  • It may not show up as a link on your screen, but it you click on the title of the book, it should lead you to the book’s description page at amazon.com.

  • ryc: Your welcome. By the way, which one in the photo is you? Just curious.

  • How great you are going to the Dominican Republic!  Praise music IS great, I have a CD by Fernando Ortega I listen to sometimes that is hymns.  There is a group my teenage boys like, called “Lifehouse”, they have some great songs, too, they are rock and I love it.

  • Hey Jim!  Thanks for the encouraging comment.

I have a stupid question for you.  Is the Dominican Republic the same as Dominica?  My husband’s been on a short term mission trip to Dominica.

God bless you as you serve him cross culturally.

  • BIG circles, indeed!  Thank you for your comments.  I have been so encouraged by your entries and comments.  I will pray for you as you go on your missions trip.  What group are you affiliated with?  Or is this with your church?  My brother is in charge of a group of 100 teenagers that went on a missions trip to Brazil this week.  He works for Vision Trust International.  It is a great organization that travels around the workld working with children mostly in schools, orphanages, etc. buuilding, repairing, teaching, or whatever is necessary.  I pray that God will use you in a mighty way.

  • It worked. Cool pictures. What photo image program do you like to use?

  • well, now I know.  my husband has been there.  :)   Thanks.
