We all know the parable of the Sower.

Too often, I feel, we become bogged down in stewing about what, or even worse, IF
    we have anything to sow.
Let me assure you. If you are  God’s.
    and Christ is yours

you have seed(s) which are precious to God and the world.

My friend and pastor told this story yesterday:

He was taking a walk some time ago (recently), and passed through
a pleasant semi-wooded (nice and private) area
on a path through a park in our town.
As he passed through, he came upon a man “stretched out” on the ground,
apparently soaking in the nice day and surroundings.

The man saw him, waved and said “hi”..nothing more.
My pastor smiled, returned the greeting pleasantly,
    and continued.

The next day on his walk through the same area,
he came upon a pair of police officers, who greeted him and asked if they could talk.
They asked him if he walked there often, discovered that he had been there the
previous day, and asked if he had seen a man matching the description of the man
    my pastor had greeted.

    The man had comitted suicide.
The pastor had very possibly been the last man he’d spoken with.

Now my pastor is a wonderful, tender man…his comment was,

“I determined to be more diligent in looking in every situation
for the opportunity to give and share (God’s seed of love).”

    Some speak, some sing,
others share and use no words at all.
    Some mend, some heal,
    some lend hands
    when people come to fall.

If you are not a giant
nor preach the way of Paul,
    It’s who YOU are
    God want to share;
For Christ through each will fill His call.

  • makes one stop and pause doesn’t it.  what if I’m the last person someone ever talks too?

  • I like the music!

I have found that most often I am used in ways I am not aware. I am always surprised at what others get from things I say, or do, or just being there. Hopefully, at least some times if not many times, God simply touches people through me; it’s the only way I think that can happen because when I try myself, I invariably fail. When I’m just me, it seems to make a difference more than if I try.

  • That’s a powerful insight!  I love the benediction at the top of the page, too.

    Cheers!

  •  RYC: Thanks Jim! I do believe this is where God wants us both to be right now and explains why I was not getting the offers I was looking for job wise. We were both truly blessed with this offer. it is not only an offer for me but, for Lynette as well. Peace!

  • Very sobering post indeed….So you were a debater eh?  That is a bit different than arguing although it sounds similar….Thanks for your comments, good to hear from you again….Blessings….Mike

  • What a painful reminder! Thanks brother Jim for the prayers!

  • We have the most important message in the world and we ought not to hold it back to anyone…what a sad reminder..

  • What a lesson for all of us.  We never know when we meet a stranger in passing…just what is in the heart of that stranger.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I also like the part how we are unique – we are created to give our uniqueness….so….let’s accept all the love we are being given….and live.  Now, today, this moment.  It is all we really know we have.   THANKS!
