    Wednesday..home at last…aaaahhhhhhh (ie, relaxed sigh)
    the rest of “Psalm 139 poetically rendered”
    is below

     from Psalm 139

    Oh Lord, You know me through and through
    You know my every way.
    My thoughts You’ve read before they’re mine;
    You hear ‘ere aught I say.

    Where could I run from You, Oh Lord?
    where You’d not there still be?
    Not highest heaven, nor lowest hell;
    Not in the deepest sea.

    (For e’en in blackest space, oh, God
    Your hand yet comforts me)

    Tho’ black as pitch may be my way;
    though cloak’d in utter night,
    You see it as the brightest day;
    I’m ever in Your sight.

    Oh, wonder, God of Wonders!
    I’m wonderfully made!

    And part by part,
    from head to heart
    Your plans for me were laid…

    …so ev’ry day that I would live
    God; ev’rything I’d do
    was seen before the dawn of time;
    completely Lord by You.

    Oh God, how precious are Your thoughts;
    beyond the mind of man!
    More numerous than all the stars,
    or all the ocean’s sand.

    Rise up, oh God; defender be!
    Crush those who hate Your name.
    May those who life would take from me;
    whom I’ve despised for sake of Thee;
    be put to utter shame.

    Look through me, God; search out my heart,
    my mind, my thoughts and ways.
    Lord cleanse me, train me, make me whole;
    be with me all my days.

    (edit note: Wednesday..parts of the second to last stanza
    may sound harsh to us of “contemporary sensibilities”, but I believe they are
    faithful to the intent of the Psalmist, and further,
    reflect the ardor for His ways God desires in us

    love, jim

  • one of my favorite Psalms!

  • YEs, WAY beyond the minds of man. YET our minds can also become way beyond. WOrking on it! thanks!

  • RYC: Thanks. I guess I could do a lot with that question. But I kept seeing my own footprints, and knowing only as much about computers as absolutely necessary, I wasn’t sure just what turning off RSS feed would do.

  • Amazing… I love it! Gerrie

  • I like what you’ve done… my daily quiet time with the Lord is based on a lot of journaling and writing out His word…I often personalize it too

  • Neither do I, but under my footprint, it said turn it off, so I did.

    Mary: I always found journaling and personalizing helpful, too.

  • Hey, Jim!  Thanks so much for th scripture!  I’ve been going through a study at settingcaptivesfree.com, and they pointed out several good proverbs as well as somethin I had never remembered reading before:  a scripture that says …once you were darkness, but now by the power of Christ you are light… (Cowboy paraphrase)  I realized that the change that ha to take place has to be a change of substance, not a change of direction.  It did not say I walked in darkness or that I dwelt in it, but that I WAS darkness, and now I am light.  i.e. I “have been made the righteousness of God”.

    Amazing!!!

  • Wow, what feeling of joy it is for him and your family that he is back…

    I’m sure it was not an easy 14 months…

    Guessing from his patch, he was with 1st CALV Division?

    By the way, thanks for the quote from Wikipedia…interesting; I thought it was pretty interesting that the author of the quote is an Islamic philosopher influenced by Aristotle during the middle ages

  • Hi Jim ~ It has been too long since I have commented. I am so blessed by the gifts that God has given to you in poetic verbal expression of His truths, and in the beauty of the world around us. I am blessed by the knowledge that Matt is safely home for good. Our younger son Shaun will be going back (his 2nd time overseas) in Feb. for  close to a year. I’m glad that God is with us and our children no matter where we/they are. Blessings to you all…. Love in Christ… Carolyn

  • Whats up? It’s Tom, love your style. Come get some ringtones on our new blog and hear some music. Xanga supported.

  • Looks healthy and whole, too! Hooray for Matt being safe at home! (well, relatively speaking)
