    After work the other day, I saw this scene on the way to my car
    My mom always called those sunbeams from behind a cloud “Glory rays”.
    Breath of Dawn used the term as well in her response to the similar photo I had posted

    Maybe I’m “over-analyzing”,
    but I got thinking about why the first impression of this type scene for many of us is

    GlorySky

    “Glory”.

    As I looked at the sky,

    I saw and felt the excitement of something just out of reach;
    partially hidden.

    The brilliant light, in contrast to the darkness of the clouds,

    bespoke something pure,

    holy,

     great;

    glimpsed,

    but not fully known or understood,

    and the promise of its approach.

    I felt a quickening of anticipation, and a longing for
    majesty

    freedom

    home;

     for the ability to reach up and out;

    to enfold and be enfolded by

    That which I’ve only begun to grasp…

    the King Who reigns

    the God Who made me

    the Lord Who bought me

    the Friend Who loves me;

    and deeply, oh, so deeply,

    I sighed

    and heard

    “You are loved.”

  • Creation is all around us and it’s SUPPOSED to remind us of our loving Heavenly Father. And scenes like this glory ray one are so beautiful and it’s a wonderful thing that it makes us feel closer to the Creator. God put the rainbow in the sky to remind us of His promise to Noah, so why not the glory rays to remind us of His glory and perfection and love? You take such wonderful pictures, and thank you for sharing them. God bless you! Gerrie

  • I often feel closest to Him when I’m outside. This is beauitful.

  • I saw some of those glory rays tonight in the sunset. Golden with a slight touch of pink.

  • Beautiful picture and poem, Jim. They reminds me of these verses from Ps. 19: 1″The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. 2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. 4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. 5 It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race. 6 The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.”
