On Memorial Day
With politics aside today
remember those who give;
believing in the duty to
defend, that others live.
Remember those for ages past
who life’s breath freely gave
so weaker ones might freely live,
while soldiers earned the grave.
With feet of clay or steely will
so many’ve paid in pain
with loss of limb, or wounded soul
that tyrants might not reign.
So..disagreements all aside
remember those who give;
believing in the duty to
defend, that others live.

Thanks for the comment yesterday. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.
ryc – The video at the top of my site means a great deal to me. Thanks for commenting on it. I believe I could ramble about theology and justice based on it for quite a few pages (and quite a few days). Sooner or later I will. LOL. I think we can learn a great deal about forgiveness and the the human psyche and the reasons why we rail against some and overlook others. Justice and Forgiveness are not against each other, but hand in hand. Our Lord offers both. We should do the same.
Thank Jim for your comments…you are correct about that scripture too! May God bless you and your family….Mike
Just caught your comment right now
I’d like that poem…
missed reading your poem!
I like esp. since it tries not to be political…
though I’m very much a political animal…
God bless you Jim…
Its always interestng to me that you and I have the same name…
just a small amusement that I’ve always had in the back of my head…from time to time
Have you published a book of your poems, Jim? You definitely could! (and I’d buy it!)
Shukran abee! (Thank you father) Ya know, it was sorta interesting spending Memorial Day in a combat zone. What really got to me though, was that they had a uniform laying out on a table in the chow hall. It was sorta creepy. Anywho, keep on rockin’ in the free world.
Love, SGT ‘smallz’ (your kiddo)
