Hi, all! Still in the process of moving, and remodeling (sort of) the house my
parents are moving into, so there’s been a limited amount of time for posting, but I DO
have internet hooked up, and hope to “be back” soon.In the meantime, I wanted to share
with you something my youngest daughter posted yesterday:
” I went to a camp week at Bair Lake recently. During one of the final sessions,
we were each handed a big rock that was supposed to represent our sins. Markers were then
passed around, and we were told that we could write on that rock one specific sin
that has been weighing us down or something that we need to hand over to God.
When the marker came to me, I passed it on. It’s not that I don’t have any
specific things that have bothered me or hindered my walk with God
…it’s that I have so much. There are so many things I’ve been dealing with on my own
..struggles, sins, regrets…and I felt that simply writing one on the rock
would push all the others aside. So I left my rock blank.
I wanted it to represent the sum of everything that I need to give up.
Then we all followed the speaker down to the lakefront, and were given
a chance for communion, and were told that we could toss our rocks into the water.
I didnt feel right having communion without first giving up to God all that was weighing me down.
It was neat, the feeling of surrender and joy that I felt as I tossed it as far as I could.
Everything. Not just one thing…everything.
If I choose Christ and His will for me, then I chose to surrender everything that is in my pocket.
One of the most moving things in the whole experience was,
before we had even been told we would get the chance to rid ourselves of the rocks,
a girl stood up and, with apparent grief, told the room
that she did not feel right holding on to her rock a single moment longer.
She then hurried to let go of it.
I think we all need to be that eager to hand our struggles over to God.

What an encouraging story and thought. I know you are proud of your daughter! She has a great father that has obviously shared much of his heart with her. May God bless you both!
Well hey! Good to hear from you again! Hope all is going well!
great thoughts, our church just did a surrender service similar to this…it is a great feeling to turn that stuff over to God, even in symbol.
Have a wonderful day, and welcome back!
Well hi stranger!
I’m so glad to see your post. I read Noelle’s post yesterday, and loved it. It’s the bottom line that helps us get through life. My knee is getting better all the time, and walking is getting easier. How funny that we have the same ailment:) Mine’s on the left! Gerrie
ahhh dad, I need to give you a better pic of Rachel and I, hehe.
wow, that is awesome.
You’re kiddos are extremely intellegent and knowledgable! Not to mention wise! Totally encouraging. Thanks for sharing it, and welcome back!!
RYC: I think I left a reply on someone else’s site. Hmm..
Well, I wanted to say that as for gas mileage, the Xterra gets about what my loaded 4×4 Tacoma got, with a camper top on it, which is about 17mpg. My Avalon gets about 21. And it won’t play in the dirt
thank you, praying for you too. right now, In the name of Jesus help Jim know how special he is in your eyes. and how he listens to you and is tender to you. and let him know everythings going to be allright. Bless his musical ability. Bless the songs for your glory, in Jesus name amen. Let him feel you walking right beside him. and meet his needs financially, physically, mentally, emotionally. Give him good loving friends. amen in the name of Jesus.
that’s the neat thing about the spirit of God. He can lead us to pray as we know not, and ….He hits the spot. Praise be to God. cuz believe me, i am sooooo human.
Have a nice day!
