I recently discovered the availability of some music I hadn’t heard for
many years…now on CD, rather than the original vinyl. In the early (VERY early)
70′s I was new at this relationship with The Lord, and also learned that worship
could be an interactive event; with music from the heart. I was in the midst of the
Catholic Charismatic Renewal, and thousands were learning the same thing.
I was deeply moved to hear one song in particular, “For You Are My God”,
based on Psalm 16, which was and still is very special to me,and decided to share
it with you…I hope you find it meaningful.
For You Are My God
John B. Foley, S.J.
(Chorus)
For you are my God;
You alone are my joy;
Defend me, oh Lord.
You give marvelous comrades to me;
The faithful who dwell in Your land
Those who choose alien gods
Have chosen an alien band.
(Chorus)
You are my portion and cup
It is You that I claim for my prize
Your heritage is my delight
The lot You have given to me.
(Chorus)
Glad are my heart and my soul
Securely my body shall rest
For You will not leave me for dead
Nor lead Your beloved astray
(Chorus)
You show me the path for my life
In Your presence the fulness of joy
To be at Your right hand forever
For me would be happiness always.
(Chorus)
Psalm 16 (New King James)
1 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD,
“You are my Lord,
My goodness is nothing apart from You.”
3 As for the saints who are on the earth,
“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;
Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,
Nor take up their names on my lips.
5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Yes, I have a good inheritance.
7 I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I wish there was a way I could download that song…I think I’ll try to find it
hahaha I am obsessed with glowworms
I guess this post isn’t really fair to my new xanga friends that don’t know me in ‘real life’. But maybe you can understand it better now that I have revealed the truth behind my post ahaha
Thanks for the link!
I love that psalm, and verse 10, I am told, is a prophecy of how (your Holy One) Jesus’ body would not decay in the grave. What CD did you find this on? Is it available in stores? (I sound like the commercials:) God bless your evening, Gerrie
Here’s the link to the group who has the You Are My God CD:

I don’t know that song, but I like the words.
Cute kiddo in the profile pic. Is that the same one you had with the hat on? And what kind of camera do you have? I’m thinking cameras these days.
And he’s standing on a roof?
RYC: Thanks. It is good to know God’s love. I had been reading someone else’s blog and it brought that back. I didn’t mean to elicit sympathy. I meant only to express again my gratitude for how far God has brought me. It amazes me at times when I do remember what my life was like for so long and how much God has changed it. All I did was let Him.
Great song Jim
Thank you for sharing. I love the Psalms (doesn’t everybody!). God bless!

Foundation of Faith Fellowship isn’t on google, in the phone book, nor in Gilbert Arizona. Check with the Chamber of Commerce if you don’t believe me. Saw this info on the net and checked it out for myself.
Too bad when Christians lie.
Thanks for this post.
Have a good week ahead.
